The Apothecary Rose carries a rich history of beauty and purpose.
Apothecaries, dating back to Medieval and Victorian times, planted this rose
outside their doorways. It eventually became their symbol and has
since been known as the Apothecary Rose.
Apothecaries used this rose for its powerful therapeutic properties.
Various remedies aided indigestion, sore throats and skin rashes as well as a
multitude of other illnesses. It was also believed that the petals would
eliminate wrinkles and give a youthful appearance if rubbed on the skin.
Since 1838, this time-honored beauty secret has been used in our
apothecary. Our chemists have been transforming the precious substances of
the rose into therpeutic preparations -- creating powders, oils, tonics, lotions
and creams.
